Never Too Much – Luther Vandross

Luther has always been someone I wanted to listen to. And there is certainly some groovy ass shit in here, and some good ass singing. But this is mainly a product of it’s time, meaning it kinda sounds like it was from the 80’s. There is nothing wrong with that, but I treat this the same as the Velvet Underground album. If I’m listening to shit from this era, it should either easily stand the test of time (which usually mean it isn’t quintessentially 80s), or be some god damn great shit form the era – like some Rick James shit. Some Curtis Mayfield. Those hit me way harder. Nothing wrong with this but just not for me in many ways. You’re good in my book though Luther. In case you were wondering.

  1. Yes, Luther is smooth, though I never have been a huge fan of his accompaniments–definite 80’s sound.
