365 – New Music Daily

You gotta be fired the fuck up for this one aside from Black Balloons. Denzel comes with a shit ton of energy. A shit ton. This album got him on the map and I completely understand why – it’s good, it came at the right time (also came in the stacked 2016) and appealed to a lot of people that were looking for this style of rap in a year that was filled with shit like Travis and Rae Sremm being big (yes, they dropped in 2015, but they were big then, shut up.) Denzel carved his own lane on this one in the sense of there not really being many people like him on the mainstream now. It is still kinda like that – maybe he is a bit similar to Peggy in terms of more aggressive sounding rap – almost embodying qualities of punk music but in a completely different form of expression. I do enjoy a lot of this though, but nothing will top the newest Denzel for a full length, and the Denzel-Kenny EP for a shorter project in my personal book.
