Velvet Underground & Nico – Velvet Underground

There is absolutely nothing musically wrong with this album. But it was not for me. And it sounded super 60’s. Like, Super 60’s. And there’s nothing wrong with albums from the 60’s, unless they sound super 60’s. Fucking Jimi shit is from the 60’s. But if I’m listening to something like this, I would much prefer this sound from someone like T. Rex. In fact I’m tempted to even put a video of Mambo Sun below this. But Velvet Underground fans, if you exist and have somehow found this blog (or maybe I sent this to the one Velvet Underground fan I’m friends with – if so hello) enjoy them. There’s nothing wrong with them. Just not for me.

Favorite songs: I’m Waiting For The Man, Femme Fatale, There She Goes Again, The Black Angel’s Death Song.

  1. Yeah, I agree. I know that Velvet Underground has a cult status, yet I never quite could get in the groove. That said, Lou Reed stands alone as a songwriter and performer.

  2. Not a huge fan of the Velvet Underground, though Lou Reed is understandably an icon!
