H.E.R. – H.E.R.

The self-titled album from H.E.R. was the debut album, propelled into the mainstream by the commercial success of Best Part. There is no denying the quality of H.E.R.’s vocals, they are incredible throughout this record and live as well (do not take the Tiny Desk below as an indictment on this album – it’s just that her portion of Daniel Caesar’s tiny desk showcases her voice incredibly).

The one knock on this album is that it is a bit long and can be a bit redundant sonically. Additionally, not much flow to the thing, more just a collection of songs. However, a supposed pro is that it becomes a good album to shuffle – reason being that most of the songs on this album are really good. Good modern R&B, just not the best in album form. One of the best female singers around now, so worth checking!
