Fucking Great/God Tier:
Al Green – Let’s Stay Together: Obviously.
ASAP Rocky – At Long Last ASAP: Iconic, incredible production, influential.
Bob Marley – Kaya: Need I say more?
Gil Scott Heron – Pieces of a Man: Incredible, will be up there for end of year lists.
Lil Yachty – Let’s Start Here: A surprising, shocking album sonically, but I can’t seem to get enough of it.
Tyler, the Creator – IGOR: Struggled between which of the two to put up higher, but the way this flows takes the top spot.
Yellowman – Mister Yellowman: Fucking great reggae.
Pretty damn good:
Arlo Parks – Collapsed in Sunbeams: Really loved this album.
Chance The Rapper – Acid Rap: Certainly has a few flaws, but the iconic mixtape deserves praise.
HER – H.E.R: Really good highs, great singing, just a bit too long.
FKJ – French Kiwi Juice: Great instrumentally, with some weird cuts.
Freddie Gibbs – Alfredo: Two great artists at their best.
Omar Apollo – Stereo: Really love some of these songs, albeit a bit ear candy.
N.E.R.D – In Search Of…: Great songs, great Pharrell production, just lost me with some dated sounds and weird lyrics.
Tyler, the Creator – Call Me If You Get Lost: Really good, more rapping, but IGOR a better album.
Solid:
DOMi & JD BECK – NOT TiGHT: Not as good as I expected, honestly.
Nirvana – Bleach: My third favorite Nirvana record, but firmly third.
Omar Apollo – Apolonio: Epitome of solid, Soft Rock edition.
Roberta Flack – Killing Me Softly: Love you Roberta, but you put the finale first!
Thug – Slime Season 3: Not my favorite Thug, but good Thug nonetheless.
Wizkid – More Love, Less Ego: Epitome of solid, Dancehall edition.
Not for me, but maybe for you:
Black Thought & Danger Mouse – Cheat Codes: Good for you if this is for you.
Earl Sweatshirt – Some Rap Songs: Really well-written, but I think Earl is not for me.
For lack of a better term, Mid:
Goldlink – And After That, We Didn’t Talk: Not as good as his follow-up, and overall just a bit lackluster.
redveil – Niagara: Just mid.
Gotye & Aries tier:
Gotye – Making Mirrors: Hope you are in a nice enclave, and also; it’s like three songs, not just one.
Aries – WELCOME HOME: Pretend this didn’t happen.
What the fuck:
Travis Scott – Birds in the trap sing McKnight: See review.
