Super smooth beats meshed with Larry June’s laid back delivery make for a nice collaborative effort between the MC and one of my favorite producers, Alchemist. I will say that I think this album lacks a bit of drive throughout it, Larry June kind of raps like he doesn’t give a fuck about what he’s saying. And not in the best way, more like he’s not entirely thrilled to be doing what he’s doing. I think that the Freddie Gibbs/Alchemist collab albums have spoiled me as to what Alchemist records could sound like, but regardless, the production is fantastic and there are some really good songs on this.
Also, bonus points for a solid Wiz verse and 2023, and even higher bonus points for a Big Sean verse that isn’t absolute dogshit in any year.
A second also (this is like my p.s.s.), an Alchemist verse!
