Outlandos d’Amour – The Police

An album from my childhood here, though I am not born in the 50’s (get it?). This album is so much more than the famed Roxanne. It has (so many!) reggae grooves, upbeat songs, great vocals from Sting, and seriously fucking impeccable drumming from Stuart Copeland. You can literally listen to this album and hear 0 words if you let yourself, the drums are so fucking captivating and entrancing. Mostly, this album speaks for itself, and is really worth a listen. I plan to revisit a lot of The Police albums – we’ll see where they all end up ranking – but I suspect this one will be tough to top.

Favorite songs: Next To You, So Lonely, Roxanne, Peanuts, Can’t Stand Losing You, Truth Hits Everybody

  1. I was just blaring this in the Mazda, loving on Copeland’s drumming, the reggae baseline Andrew lays out, and Sting’s emotions. The Police took the US by storm, for sure! ________________________________
