Love Deluxe – Sade

My first listen to a Sade record, with more to come for sure, was a bit underwhelming. Not because her voice wasn’t amazing (it was), or that there weren’t good songs (there were), but I think my hopes were a bit high coming into this. I had heard loads of things about Sade coming into this record, all positive. I found this album to be a bit too subdued, in the sense that it lacked the drive necessary. Maybe I wasn’t in the right mood for it, but it just felt a bit slow. Regardless, she has an amazing voice and I’m looking forward to listening to more of her albums. I imagine at least one of the others is a bit more catered to my R&B taste. Vamos a ver…

  1. Do you count “best of” compilations as a legit listen? Or are you a purist that needs to the full-issue release? I think “Promise” and “Diamond Life” are a bit more interesting overall. ________________________________
