The Doors – The Doors

I’ve been staring down this review for quite some time. It’s intimidated me. Not because I didn’t like this album (I did, and it was another on the roads of Italy, which added to its value), and not because I don’t think it has classic songs, a unique sound, incredible lyricism, all of the above.

It’s because The Doors are legendary, and I don’t think I can sum up how great an introduction to them was. I do think that is a bit of challenge with blogging on this quest – and why certain reviews are more daunting or difficult to write than others – how can I review an album and say something new when so much has been said about it already?

That’s the million dollar question, isn’t it. Who gives a shit though. I can still just say I liked it. It certainly wasn’t my favorite album ever, but it was a damn good one. And that could be the entire review too. And it will be. And I’ll start my last three sentences, and end this one, with the word and.

Favorite songs: Break on Through (To the Other Side), Soul Kitchen, The Crystal Ship, Light My Fire

  1. The Doors are a musically-innovative, intelligent band with one of the most charismatic lead singers in all of musical history. LA Woman is essential listening. ________________________________
