April Album Tiers

Fucking Great/God Tier:

Anderson .Paak – Ventura : Naturally.

BB King – Live at Cook County Jail: BB and Lucille can sing my lullabies for the rest of my life.

Djo – Twenty Twenty: Steve!

Flaming Lips – Yoshimi Fights the Robots: Great themes, songwriting, instrumentalization, psych rock, battling.

Green Day – Dookie: Iconic.

Marvin Gaye – I Want You: Secretly my favorite Marvin.

The Police – Outlandos d’Amour: My personal favorite from the legendary English band.

Them Crooked Vultures – Them Crooked Vultures: A great under the radar rock album.

Pretty damn good:

Dr. Dre – The Chronic: A classic that ages in a very interesting way – mostly positively.

Djo – DECIDE: Not as good as other Steve, but Steve nonetheless.

The Doors – The Doors: A great introduction to one of the better lyricists of all time.

Heatwave – Central Heating: The funk shall become you.

KAYTRANADA – BUBBA: Beautiful blend of house, rap and R&B.

Saba – Care For Me: Very solid rap album with one of the best anecdotal songs you’ll hear (PROM/KING).

Talking Heads – Speaking in Tongues: Who took the money awaaaaaaaay?

The Police – Regatta de Blanc: Stuart shines.

The Police – Synchronicity: The candle dancing, what more can I say.

Solid:

Toro y Moi – Mahal: Some great songs, some OK ones, and some deeply strange ones.

The Police – Zendaya Mondatta: Two of their best songs, mixed with some of their worst.

Tyler, the Creator – THE ESTATE SALE: A good addition to a very good album.

This should have been much better tier:

Dinner Party – Enigmatic Society: Based on the standards set on the other album, I needed more grooves man.

IDK – Simple: A massive waste of Kaytranada beats.

Larry June, Alchemist – The Great Escape: I was very excited for this, only for Larry to sound like arose from a coma on most of these songs.

Sade – Love Deluxe: If any Sade truthers see this, I apologize, I had high expectations.

Snoh Aalegra – Ugh, those feels again…: Worst title ever. It should’ve been better because the first two songs were so good, dammit.

Disappointing:

Daniel Caesar – NEVER ENOUGH: This disappointing tier lives another month with the most fitting addition yet.

Redveil – playing w/ fire: A disappointing follow-up to his last album, which was great.

Not it:

Destin Conrad – Colorway: For what was proclaimed to be a nice underground R&B album, it’s one of the worst I’ve heard.

Crumb – Jinx: It’s just not it, epitomized. That one song is good though.
