For what I hope is not the last time – Thank you Dave Grohl. I would have not known about this album without reading your book. To get even more detailed, which I am deeming necessary, I would’ve never known about this if not for Frank getting me more into Nirvana, which led me to get more into the Foo Fighters, which led me to watch that video of the Kiss guy shredding on stage with them, which led me to get more into Dave Grohl, which led me to purchasing and reading his book, which led me to learning about Them Crooked Vultures, which led me to learning about Queens of the Stone Age, which led me to listening to this album. You’re welcome.
Point one in this album’s favor – it has a radio station theme. No, The Weekend did not invent that theme with Dawn FM. I love a good radio station theme, that’s all, so it’s already good in my book. Point two – it’s a really solid rock album. It might be a little bit poppy, not my favorite style of rock (which I’ve figured out are grunge, psych rock and 70’s glam rock), however it is really well executed. Point three – Josh Homme is a great lyricist and equally good singer. All in all, it works to be a fantastic 2000s rock album. Tad long though.
