Hiding in Plain Sight – Drugdealer

Thank you Liam for another good rec. To all of you that read my blog – send me albums if you please. You see how many I’ve reviewed? That’s 136. I need 229 more. Feed me.

Drugdealer is the brainchild of Michael Collins, LA based musician. What you can expect to find is groovy tunes, sort of soft rock/alternative (whatever the latter means) with some beautiful instrumentation ranging from guitar riffs, lots of keys, some saxophone and horns here and there, a bit of everything.

The singing is a mix of Collins and other artists – however I do think Collins singing produces one of the best tracks in Someone to Love, which has some mean slapping of da bass. Slappadabass. Another highlight are the two solos on New Fascination, one of the keys variety and the other of señor saxophone.

All in all, it makes for a great listen. Will definitely be checking out more from him.

Favorite songs: Madison, Someone to Love, Pictures of You, New Fascination, Valentine, Hard Dreaming Man

  2. He’s got a little bit of a Bill Withers vibe here. I’m a sucker for anything with horns, just saying. ________________________________
