The funk shall become you. Sly and the Family Stone are an off the wall funk collective from the 70s. Sly leads the way with an immaculate delivery, raspy and all, going from smooth vocals to full on screams on songs like If You Want Me To Stay, the song that got me into this band. This record doesn’t underwhelm. There is some amazing funk cuts throughout it. Much like Parliament, if you want a funk band that was definitely on a copious amount of substances with amazing vocals, basslines, random grooves (the sax on the intro track!) this is for you.
