Floating Coffin – Thee Oh Sees (or Osees)

Another crack at Spotify’s psych rock mix was the 2013 release Floating Coffin from band I had never heard of, Thee Oh Sees. No beating around the bush here – this one was a bit uninspiring for me. There were certainly some good psych (and just general alternative rock) songs on this, however I often found the vocal mixes to be a bit drowned out and/or just not all that great. They also sound like King Gizz when King Gizz decides to go this direction sonically, entonces they are just a worse version of them. Nothing wrong with this band or album, just kinda meh.

Favorite songs: I Come From The Mountain, No Spell, Maze Fancier, Sweets Helicopter, Tunnel Time, Minotaur

  1. I concur with your review. Mid-tier only, maybe a bit under.

Clearly they are influenced by Blondie, who, if you haven’t listened to you, will want to check-out, starting with their first (and some might argue their best) album, Parallel Lines. ________________________________
