In The Dark – Toots & The Maytals

Reggae. That’s the genre. What if I started off all my blogs like that? Or with the tag? Does the tag come across on email? That would be nice.

I almost left this post as “toot” which was my placeholder. Anyways, what more can I say? This is their best album, it’s a fucking amazing reggae album. Though again, it has the fucking Take Me Home, Country Road cover! What is with that! This one is probably the best.

There are a few of these type reviews coming up, by the way, the “it’s really good, okay?” ones. I’m going to include lists on them instead. My top 5 reggae artists:

  1. Bob Marley: Gotta be, right? Look at the Kaya tracklist FFS.
  2. Yellowman: Not only is he great and has created memories for me in some of my favorite places in the world, but he’s also hilarious.
  3. Toots & The Maytals: Toots’ voice is just so fucking iconic and good. Reminds me of Otis Redding.
  4. Chronixx: In my opinion, the best contemporary reggae artist.
  5. Dennis Brown: Such an amazing singer and fantastic artist.

Disagree if you dare.

Favorite songs: Got To Be There, In The Dark, Having a Party, Time Tough, I See You, I See You, Revolution, 54-46 Was My Number, Sailing On

  1. Great review! Toots has a real transforming vibe—he really wants folks to ride this smooth ride…while sharing his culture.

This song is a perfect one to play when a person isn’t feeling super happy. Toots will get one dancing!

p.s. not ready to take that dare. Har! ________________________________
