High-Flying – Hiromasa Suzuki

OK, this might be one of those albums that very few of you care about. High-Flying is a mid-70’s Japanese Fusion Jazz album, in case you were worried that this blog hadn’t gotten niche enough after my previous Lorde review.

This album is completely instrumental, and really needs nothing else. Every little sub genre of fusion that comes across this record is fantastic. I linked the entire album on YouTube below – just skip to random points and you’ll hear amazing instrumentation that was different from the last place you skipped from. It’s fantastic.

Funk and Jazz dominate this record for the most part with some more dreamy, spacious cuts here and there – but it’s really an amazing fucking record. Is it my personal favorite style of music? No, but you really do have to marvel in how great this record is.

Favorite songs: Legitimately every single one is good.

  2. Wow, very unique and esoteric sound. Really like it and want to hear more.

One of the comments from youtube, “Spent first 31 years of my life without this record. What a shame.” ________________________________
