Hive Mind, The Internet’s latest release (sadly), exceeded expectation for me. I figured that with the more commercial success of the 2015 release, Ego Death, Hive Mind may be something I enjoyed less, but I couldn’t have been more far from correct in my assumption. Hive Mind is one of my favorite albums of this

Turnstile’s 2018 Time & Space is a hardcore punk album from the band that now has become one of the few mainstream hardcore punk bands active in 2022. This album stays more true to the roots of the genre, which is why some hardcore punk fans have some inhibitions about the bands change of direction

The Internet is a band with not only interesting backstories per member but also incredible talent. Steve Lacy, now the bands most famous member, went from underground/indie name to TikTok guy (much to his dismay). Syd went from Odd Future to being the lead singer of a great band, even with solo albums. Matt Martians

Trumpeted by Lonely Boy, El Camino follows a trajectory of a rock sound that has become informally trademarked by the Black Keys. The vocal performances on this album along with the songwriting deliver. The main critique of this album is that it can come off a bit redundant, and to some extent requires a bit

Independent Worm Saloon by the Butthole Surfers may conjure a specific image in your head. If you had to guess the musicality of a band named the Butthole Surfers with album names like this, Hairway to Steven, Rembrandt Pussyhorse and Electriclarryland (soon to be on new listens), you can’t be too far off. Independent Worm

Dark Side of the Moon. One of the greatest albums of all time. A quintessential tripping album. Also an album that I had never listened to in full or on my own accord, aside from in a few smoking circles in a previous day and age. First off, the album did not have anything objectively

Oh Amy. Nothing will ever top Frank or Back to Black (both of which are not in this list as I have listened to them dozens and dozens of times), however the posthumous compilation album still delivers. The classic Nas and Amy reunion is great, especially after Salaam Remi flipping Made You Look into an

Holy shit, I struggled through this album. If you are a big Black Flag fan, good for you, but you confuse me. I found the vocals incredibly uninspiring, the music to be overly chaotic (I know it’s punk, and some of the riffs were fine, but Jesus). I really had to power through this one.

It’s hard to imagine anything will ever top the listening experience Are You Experienced provided (The Wind Cries Mary is one of the best songs of all time!), however Axis: Bold as Love provided a great contender in the Hendrix discography. Subdued guitar songs managed to be my favorite, such as Castles Made of Sand
