Hive Mind – The Internet

Hive Mind, The Internet’s latest release (sadly), exceeded expectation for me. I figured that with the more commercial success of the 2015 release, Ego Death, Hive Mind may be something I enjoyed less, but I couldn’t have been more far from correct in my assumption. Hive Mind is one of my favorite albums of this year (in rotation, obviously). An album filled with a ton of groovy bass lines, great guitar solos and as usual, great Syd vocals. Steve Lacy also had a lot more vocal involvement in this release than the previous, which could be speculated being due to his own solo work. This is the first no skip – although It Gets Better (With Time) was probably my least favorite track – nearly every single song on this album delivers. I hope they are not done as a group!

My favorite favorites – as there are no skips – La Di Da, Roll (Burbank Funk), Come Over, Wanna Be, Next Time/Humble Pie, Stay the Night.

  1. I like this more than the Tiny Desk, for sure.
