Making Mirrors – Gotye

The man, the myth, the Somebody That I Used to Know. The classic trope of “this MF dropped one classic and disappeared” epitomized. Also, a man named Wally. Gotye. I really went into this album trying to give it a shot past the potential one hit wonder of the classic Gotye song mentioned above. There are a few good songs, but then some serious Imagine Dragons stuff that completely lost me. Unfortunately, while I may not be fully camp “he has one good song”, he might have 3-4. I wish he had kept making music though, he had some serious musical talent and original lyricism.

Favorite songs: Easy Way Out, Somebody That I Used to Know, Smoke and Mirrors, State of the Art

  1. I wasn’t such a fan of the one-hit, honestly. Maybe it was the video, or just kind of, I don’t know the redundancy. That said, most of us have experienced that feeling of someone you once loved but no longer know (high school sweethearts aside).
