Twenty Twenty – Djo

A really fucking good psych rock record. Steve from Stranger Things can get down! That’s right, this is Steve from Stranger Things’ band. And I could call him Joe Kerry, or Djo, but I think inserting Steve from Stranger Things three times in a paragraph is a necessary opportunity to capitalize on when it comes your way.

If you know, or have read my review of Skiptracing by Mild High Club, you will see some similarities in some of the best of Mild High Club’s music and a lot of this album (especially the song Homage). I have found myself coming back to this one a lot – great song composition, songwriting, really not lacking much on this record. Thank you Liam for the rec.

Favorite songs: Personal Lies, Tentpole Shangrila, Just Along For The Ride, Chateau (Feel Alright), Roddy, Mortal Projections

  2. This has traces of the Beatles during their psychedelia phase. The fact that it is Steve—looking like a rocker with his gorgeous mop of hair—does sweeten the pot. ________________________________
