Dookie – Green Day

Dookie is a very important album in the general scape of music for many reasons. First off, it’s one of the best selling albums of all time. Secondly, there is so much that would’ve never happened if not for this album & Green Day in general, who adapted the punk/rock/grunge sound and added an element of melody that would become influential for future generations. There’s no Blink-182 without Green Day. You can say that for many other bands.

If there were two major pillars of 90s rock, it was the harder grunge sounds of Nirvana and early Foo, and then the more melodic Green Day type.

Yes, it can get a bit repetitive. From song 1, you know what you’re in for. I love it, nostalgia obviously helps that too. Regardless, you don’t have to like Green Day to respect and understand their importance to the music landscape- and Dookie not only provides all the necessary proof, but also holds up.

Except for All By Myself. What the fuck is that ending? Favorite songs are all but that.
