Let’s address the elephant in the room: This title. Jesus Christ, it’s horrible. I am not sure how many in person conversations I’ll have where I am socially cued to mention this album by title, but I would go to great lengths to avoid uttering the title. Ask me what lengths if you want. I won’t go into it, I’m not in the mood to see if WordPress has a character limit on posts.
This album crossed my radar due to two reasons; first, I have heard a few Snoh songs in my day, namely one with Vince Staples, which I cannot recall the title of or be bothered to look up. If you’re curious, I’ve given you enough information. Maybe I’m dead wrong. Who knows. Second reason is song #2, I Want You Around, that song is fucking great.
However, I did not find that much of this album was even close to that set standard. Regardless of if I knew that song before checking this out, the sequence fucks it all. Put that thang in the middle or something. I got all excited for nothing. Though the back half did redeem it a bit, and certainly keeps it in the solid tier. Also, she kind of reminds me of DVSN. If that reference sticks with any of my readers, good for you.
I will say above all, while this album lost me at points, she is a fantastic singer. Like seriously, great voice. Worth checking out. Leven Kali is also all over this album background vocal wise, he is also great underrated r&b guy.
