Help! – The Beatles

The Beatles 1965 release Help! is undeniably their most 60’s release – which may sound like stating the obvious for a band that recorded most of their output in the 60’s – but it is a noteworthy claim considering how much they dabbled in different sounds of rock, psych rock, even some blues, soul, and of course pop.

A 60’s sounding record is not up my alley – though I do enjoy some of the songs on this record, it really falls flat compared to the rest of their discography. Certainly rounds out the bottom tier with Sgt. Pepper’s. A full Beatles ranking will be coming soon, after the beast that is the White Album is tackled.

Favorite songs: Help!, The Night Before, You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away, Yesterday

  2. I appreciate Help! because there are clues to future sounds from this amazing and inspiring band! You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away is gorgeous and haunting. Definitely a step-above Sgt. Pepper. ________________________________
