Mordechai – Khruangbin

Khruangbin’s 2020 release Mordechai continues to extend their funky, smooth, jazzy, laid back, chill sound, adding some more Latin American sounds – including even an all-Spanish song in “Pelota”. Like the other Khruangbin record I reviewed here, there really isn’t too much to say. I do think that The Universe Smiles Upon You is a step up from this one, but it’s still a very nice, chill record.

Favorite songs: First Class, Time (You and I), Connaissias de Face, Father Bird, Mother Bird, Pelota, So We Won’t Forget

  1. I decided not to watch the video after the sandcastle because I clearly am not smart enough for symbolism these days (har).

I do enjoy this sound. I imagine David Byrne listening to it as well and sort of grooving around, finding the 70’s vibe. When was this produced? ________________________________
