  • Niagara -Redveil

While I really enjoyed Redveils most recent project, and deeply respect him for being a fantastic rapper/producer, listening to this album after PG Baby really illustrates how much better his recent album is and his areas of improvement. To the point that I’m just gonna link PG Baby below. This ends up serving as just

  • Kaya – Bob Marley

What is there even to say on this one. Sit back and listen to one of the best albums from one of the best artists ever. The fact that this even fit the criteria (I had only listened to it once front to back) is a shame. Certain songs are forever in rotation and now,

  • Quickly becoming, If not already, one of the best female rappers currently out. In a very nice turn, this album brings her singing along with her incredible, often introspective & always very well thought out lyrics. And damn, she can sing too! Seriously a rapper that all should be familiar with, especially if your taste

  • There’s really not too much for me to say on this one. It is good, objectively, but firmly in the not for me, but maybe for you tier. Very well constructed raps, cool beats, and certainly some songs I enjoyed, but not my style of rap. Favorite songs: Sometimes, The Darkest Part, No Gold Teeth,

  • Gil Scot-Heron’s 1971 album’s start took me off guard. I recognized this poem and message – the Revolution will not be televised. It will not be streamed live. • Stereo – Omar Apollo

Short, sweet and to the point. A great intro to Omar Apollo. The production on this is pretty minimalist – the guitar does the heavy lifting – but it’s a nice collection of songs to kick off Omar’s discography. All three of his albums are to come – especially if reading this chronologically or embodying

  • An album that honestly speaks for itself. Super tight jazz instrumentals throughout, very nice keys and fucking ridiculous drumming with some nice features. I wish there were some more features, but a nice album to relax to if you like more upbeat jazz with the above components. Favorite songs: WHATUP, SMiLE, TWO SHRiMPS, MOON, TAKE

  • It had been than 5 years since I last let Slime Season 3 grace my eardrums. Some of these songs are timeless for Young Thug fans, and great intros for those not familiar – With Them, Memo, Digits. This album is tight and a great intro to Young Thug. Certainly not my favorite from him

  • H.E.R. – H.E.R.

The self-titled album from H.E.R. was the debut album, propelled into the mainstream by the commercial success of Best Part. There is no denying the quality of H.E.R.’s vocals, they are incredible throughout this record and live as well (do not take the Tiny Desk below as an indictment on this album – it’s just

  • I don’t know why I never listened to this one either. Sorry Tyler. To start, this album gets a huge boost for being another fucking album. It’s clear that Tyler, known music historian/fanatic/whatever, gives a shit about making an album and not throwing a bunch of songs in a random order and calling it a
